Jeffrey Jacobs, of both Wilton and White Plains, was arrested Sunday, July 22, on an arrest warrant in Dutchess County and waived extradition, said the Wilton Police Department.
Jacobs was arrested after Wilton Police received a complaint from the owners of the NHL Boston Bruins complaining that Jacobs was misrepresenting himself as an owner of the team. He would then scam individuals to do work on his home or receive special favors under these pretenses, police said.
In one instance, a tree company billed the actual owner of the Bruins for work done on Jacob's home.
Jacobs was caught in Poughkeepsie after he was pulled over for talking on his phone while driving. He was transported to Wilton Police Headquarters and charged with criminal impersonation.
He was released on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 30.
